Launch of the Project Cooperation Agreement between the University of the Western Cape, Community Law Centre and UNICEF
A project co-operation agreement has been signed between the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the University of the Western Cape to undertake child law reform activities in Southern and Eastern Africa. The task of managing and undertaking the child law reform activities in Southern and Eastern Africa, is the responsibility of the Children’s Rights Project of the Community Law Centre.
The Children’s Rights Project at the
Community Law Centre (University of the Western Cape) is proud to
announce the signing, launch and implementation of the UNICEF Child Law
Reform Support in Africa Project. A project co-operation agreement has
been signed between UNICEF and the University of the Western Cape. The
task of managing and undertaking the child law reform activities in
Southern and Eastern Africa, is the responsibility of the Children’s
Rights Project of the Community Law Centre. The two-year project
entails providing technical assistance to selected countries in
Southern and Eastern Africa intending to or currently undertaking child
law reform processes, developing a guidelines document and framework
legislation on what children’s legislation should entail and developing
a website where child legislation and documents on best practices for
law reform processes from across the region can be accessed.
To celebrate this momentous and historical achievement, the CRP
and the Community Law Centre, will host an official media launch at the
University of the Western Cape on Wednesday, 3 March 2010 at 1pm,
at the School of Public Health, Room 1C & D, University of the
Western Cape.
