The researcher at the Children’s Rights Project of the Centre, last week, delivered expert contributions for participants attending the Oslo Diploma Course (ODC) on advanced Human Rights Training in Norway.

Dr Mandates’ contributions focused on the realisation of children’s rights through African regional mechanisms and the protection of human rights in the continent. His analysis mainly explored the mandate of African regional mechanism tasked with children’s rights and the protection of human rights in the continent through the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights and the African Court on Human and People’s Rights. Other key themes explored during the event include the prohibition of torture, the right to equality and physical integrity.

The event was organised by the International Law and Policy Institute (ILPI) based in Norway. The aim is to develop and provide human rights training for Angolan government officials, members of civil society organisations and other relevant stakeholders. Among other initiatives, the programme included lectures, group discussions and institutional visits to Norwegian based human rights institutions.
