February 2007
Workshops on Housing Research Findings
Smaller workshops were held in each of the three communities -
Langa (17 February), Mfuleni (21 February), and Manenberg (26 February)
- with the aim of meeting the objectives of the strategy workshop. The
three workshops, which took place in February 2007, were attended by
members of ICS’s, SANCO, and other community organisations. We describe
the outcomes of the workshop in more detail below.
October 2006
Strategy Workshop on Housing
Project
The workshop was held on 26 October 2006 at Saartjie Baartman Centre.
It had two main aims: the first was to report back on the
information-gathering process and to inform participants and other
stakeholders of the results of field work conducted in Mfuleni, Langa
and Manenberg. The second aim was to identify strategies for
strengthening the capacity of informal community structures to give
effect to the rights of women and girls vulnerable to HIV/AIDS in their
housing allocation practices.
