Heléne Combrinck is a senior researcher at the Community Law Centre and coordinates the Centre’s Gender Project. Previous experience includes working as a public prosecutor (with specific emphasis on the prosecution of sexual offences), and lecturing at the Faculty of Law at the University of the Western Cape. Heléne has published extensively on various aspects of gender equality and women’s rights and has also been involved in various submissions on law reform to parliamentary committees and the South African Law Reform Commission.

Lorenzo Wakefield is currently working as a research assistant at the Gender Project of the Community Law Centre. He finished his LL.B degree at the University of the Western Cape and is currently working on his LL.M thesis. Apart from working on the implementation of the 2007 Sexual Offences Act, his main areas of research include Gender-based Violence and HIV/ AIDS in Southern Africa and Sexual Violence within International Criminal Law.
Lorenzo is also the co-editor of Iminyango newsletter (with Helene Combrinck) and maintains the Gender-based Violence and HIV/AIDS website.
